A native of Maryland, I come from a large family of seven children. I am married, a mother to two beautiful children, and a grandmother currently live in Clarksburg, Maryland. I studied Graphic Design at UMBC in Baltimore, MD. On my artistic journey I have been a Technical Illustrator, Paste-up Artist, Art Director for two different retail companies, Mural Painter, Drama Set Designer/ Painter and an Artist in Residence in Montgomery County Public Schools. However, nothing has been more fulfilling than my explorations in Printmaking. I first fell in love with Printmaking while taking a college intaglio course back in the 80’s. In 2010 I went back to school at Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland where I rediscovered intaglio and other forms of Printmaking. It was there that I earned my certificate in Studio Printmaking.
My work is rooted in the natural world as I seek to find my connection with it. Sometimes my mind turns towards creating portraits, when it feels important to tell a story. I allow myself to go back and forth between Intaglio and lithography depending on the needs of the image. I often hand-color my prints using watercolor pencil and then push them through an etching press a second time to "activate" the color. This process allows for interesting variation and it brings my hand back to the print in a new and intimate way that is always exciting! Printmaking allows for endless experimentation and it is my passion.
